By Train

Where to purchase train tickets:

1. Official SRT D-Ticket portal:

dticket.railway.co.th (English available; best for advance booking of Special Express/Express/Rapid trains, up to 30 days or more for longer segments).

2. Trusted third-party platforms (easier for foreign cards and English interface): 12go.asia, Baolau, or similar authorized agents.

3. In person at Krung Thep Aphiwat (Gate 4 area recommended), other stations, or counters. Ordinary/local trains are often bought on the day at the station. Most long-distance southern trains now depart from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal (also called Bang Sue Grand Station), in the Chatuchak area of Bangkok.

Major stops between Bangkok and Ratchaburi typically include:
– Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal (Bang Sue)
– Bang Bamru
– Salaya
– Nakhon Pathom
– Ratchaburi Railway Station (arrival in town centre)

– Paktor Station (Kongkarn Cafe)

Some residual ordinary/commuter services still use Thon Buri or (rarely) Hua Lamphong. Journey time is usually 2 hour – 3 hours. On majority of the stops, travelers are expected to look at the Google Map or Station Board and hop-on/off by themselves.

Key daily train numbers (from Krung Thep Aphiwat; approximate times as of recent 2026 data—confirm exact schedule):

Additional ordinary services operate from Thon Buri. Classes range from 3rd-class fan to 2nd-class air-conditioned seats (and some overnight options with sleepers on longer routes).

Major Inter-City Bus Stations (Bangkok) – Government vs Private

Thailand’s long-distance buses are primarily regulated and many operated under the government-linked Transport Co. Ltd. (Bor Kor Sor / BKS / Bus 999). The three main terminals are government-managed infrastructure, but both state and private operators use them.

Scenery along the way

The typical overland routes from Bangkok (via Southern Bus Terminal / Sai Tai Mai, private transfers, or train) pass through Nakhon Pathom, rural lowlands, and then the more elevated countryside of Ratchaburi’s Pak Tho area. Standard government buses and many minivans are limited-stop and do not make scheduled tourist stops, but private transfers, self-drive, or flexible minivan/tour options allow detours. Trains offer continuous countryside views (rice fields, orchards, occasional hills).

Quick Reference Table

Gazing upon Kongkarn’s living canopy under blazing sun; where all heats evaporated, and thriving flowery sit beside bodies of water. Experience nature’s serenity, and bathing in organic-certified man-made forestry where even nature visits.

Parallel life of rural Thailand; where minorities people live an agrarian life, harvest and celebrate festivals (mid July-Aug dates flexible), where local agrarian produce can cost a dollar and local minorities meals are unavailable even in city-centre.

A note to visitor, lively Friday market is organized between 3 pm – 6 pm next to Kongkarn Cafe.
